I see life as art. With all its love and pain and mess and dirt … I still see art. Understanding light and shadow and the play and collaboration of color and texture, I see it all and use it all to create work suitable for the discerning collector.
I have been a fan of how the old master painters represented light using Chiaroscuro. Their use of strong contrasts between light and dark, usually bold contrasts affecting a whole composition. It has also been used by artists and art historians to achieve a sense of volume. I love it because it also evokes a sense of mystery and drama.
I employ a variety of settings, and try to use the space and the light as imaginatively as possible. I take inspiration from film, painting, nature, and music. My belief is that any photograph, has the '“potential” to be timeless.
