The “Art” of AI

I was listening to a conversation last night about whether AI art is can be attributed to the one who creates it, or whether it’s a product of the coders of the AI. For me, it’s both. Kinda like how Sony makes it possible for me to capture the composition, lighting, makeup, and location I choose to shoot. Without the camera, I couldn’t share my work with the world. The AI is similar.

Here’s an example - three images with the following prompts:

  • “3 black women in white dresses walking down a street in Brooklyn” - simple, nothing extra.

  • “3 black women in white dresses walking down a street in Brooklyn, cinematic lighting, wide aperture” - using my knowledge of light and camera settings.

  • “3 women with dark skin standing on a corner in Brooklyn, beautiful faces, red & white polka dot dresses, cinematic lighting, one woman in front of the others” - getting even more creative with the composition.

Sure, just like a point-and-shoot camera, you can just create with a few words. Or …you can also bring in your knowledge of art and light and creativity to make the image your own.
